Dr Babette Radclyffe-Thomas FRAS is a fashion academic, journalist and consultant who specialises in the Chinese fashion and beauty industries.
In 2023, Babette obtained her PhD specialising in Chinese fashion media and is the only person in the world to have a PhD in Vogue China.
Babette is an award-winning journalist who has worked at some of the most influential fashion and style publications in Asia and Europe including Vogue China, Prestige and Design Anthology. She is currently the News Editor at the Costume Society and writes for a range of publications as a freelance journalist.
Babette obtained a Master’s degree in Fashion Journalism with high distinction from the London College of Fashion in 2013 and won the Harper’s Bazaar Art Plus Fashion Journalism Prize the same year. As a freelance journalist, she has been published in Business of Fashion, Hong Kong Free Press and many other print and digital publications. She was the Editor of S Style Magazine, which is published by Macau’s Sands Casino, and wrote fashion and beauty columns at China Daily. Babette speaks, reads and writes Mandarin Chinese. She specialises in luxury custom media content for clients including Lane Crawford and Pacific Place.
She is an award-winning fashion academic, having a MA and PhD from the London College of Fashion, UAL. She presents her academic research at conferences worldwide and guest lectures at universities around the globe. Babette is a brand consultant and strategist working with a wide array of clients internationally, specifically advising on the Chinese fashion industry.
